Kate's AT Blog: Friends and Family in DC

I had an awesome time in DC! I must say the visiting came at the perfect time. I was approaching mental exhaustion, and it was great to be off the trail for a few days. Yes, the city was quite overwhelming. So many fast moving cars, lots of ppl and diversity at its finest, and so many THINGS! Why on earth do we have so many products!?

I met up with Shana a wonderful friend from Saint Rose. She was super hospitable and cooked up an awesome dinner. So great to visit with her and her boyfriend. It thunderstormed and I was beyond thankful to be inside!

I met Aunt Dawn right in downtown Chinatown. We grabbed a delicious lunch then went to pick up the girls wedding dresses. ( Still in hiking gear and boots I think the workers were happy I was not there to try anything on.) We all watched Grace play a stellar game of softball and grab the Win! Nice work Grace. Uncle Ern cooked up some delicious nachos and made margaritas. YUM. The girls had softball tournaments on Saturday/ Sunday and were out the door! A great stay:) Thanks for your generosity and hospitality!

I also got to meet up with Meredith, a long time friend from high school! It was great to get caught up and exchange stories. How was high school eight years ago!? It was nice to meet her boyfriend Steve and frolick around DC enjoying great food together. ( thankyou) They drove me back to the trail head in harpers ferry and hiked a few miles with me. A wonderful visit!
