The Grayson highlands

This last week was great. "They" all told us that once we got to VA we would start crushing miles... rumor is true!

This past week, apart from the fun family visits, I got to meet up with Fresh Grounds and hike through the Grayson Highlands.

Fresh Grounds, who I met my second day on the trail, follows hikers north. He runs soley on our donations and feeds us until we are full! He enjoys staying ahead of the BIG hiker bubble so that he can get to know us on a one on one basis. This is my fourth encounter with him and it gets better each time!!! Hope I run into him further up.

A second rumor revealed truth.. There most certainly are wild ponies! If ever you get a chance to hike in VA, I would highly recommend the Grayson highlands. This section of trail is absolutely gorgeous, promising 360 degree views around every bend. The sun was shining, and I was experiencing utter bliss. It was one of those awesome hiking days. The kind were you are humbled by your surroundings and just want to sit and take in the beauty ( although here I would never had made it to camp if I stopped every five minutes). Hope the pics can do it some justice!
Found a bunch of encouraging note cards one day for a fifteen mile stretch.
