One awakes in the morning ready to starts a days work. Some wake earlier than others in the black of the morning and get ready by headlamp. For those that like the slower start, one gathers water from the nearest water source, boils a cup and sips on a cup of coffee as they prepare their oatmeal and look at today's itinerary. The "others" wake fifteen minutes before they need to leave. They throw everything into their pack, grab a pop-tart on the go and are out the door (of their tent).
We have studied the map, the elevation gain and loss, the water sources, nearest forest service roads, closest shelters etc. Hiking is our "work." (And I must admit we are getting good at it!)
And then we hike. And hike and hike.
After a day's "work" we return home (always a new place). We enjoy the company of others and joke about what we saw, who we met etc. "Can you believe that climb we had about 15 miles back!?" Did you guys get some of that trail magic!? What's your name? Man, how about those views today! So, what's our plan for tomorrow? Any good places to eat coming up? Does anyone care for a fire? Do any of you snore-if so I am setting up my tent."
Some take their time in setting up their shelter. They prefer to sit on a bench, let their feet "rest" and will get to it a bit later. Others a bit more ambitious upon arrival like to get everything ready before they even take their boots off for the night. By nightfall, everyone is in their bags ready for well deserved rest... rest needed for the miles ahead.
And with the sun we begin anew.

You are amazing, lady!!! I would love to share the trail with ya in Mass./Vermont!! Wishing you happy trails ahead, and thank you for sharing your adventure with us - I am inspired so much already :) Hope I can find you in the Northeast!!
