The Smokies were an awesome section! The park requires one to purchase a permit when hiking through, and to sleep in the shelters- due to bear concerns. I was happy a ranger checked for my permit, it's like turning 21 and hoping someone finally ID 's ya! I was so fortunate to have the rain break for a few days granting amazing views! There was also no shortage of trail magic, which provides the absolute best moral boost. I conquered Clingmans Dome which is the highest section of the entire AT and had a clear day offering 360 degree views. I also clocked in my first twenty miler day wahoooCheck out the pics from the park below.
Love to all
Carpe diem

Fontana Dam. It was tricky crossing the dam bc it was fenced off to traffic... Umm I need to get to the other side!
Ran into Ryan- a friend I worked with out in Colorado with Bold Earth! He was hiking the smokies for five days on spring break.
This is Almost Awesome- thru hiker of '13. She provided PBR on Rocky Top... Talk about some trail magic!
Check out the cloud cover and body of water below.
