Gems of Generosity

Since I last posted I have had unbelievable trail magic! I hiked into Kent, CT and was able to pitch my tent in someone's backyard right on Main Street. They had a hose shower and port a john in the yard.I had a great time exploring the neat town and ate some amazing chocolates!

I hiked out of town with a group and the three of us weathered the rain. It is certainly not as bad now that temperatures have warmed up.  The rain floods the trail when it comes down so hard and the rocks become very slick.

We briefly explored Salisbury, CT and fueled up on great food. Only a few more miles until we cross another state border

The four of us got off in Great Barrington, MA and without even hitching got a ride! A very kind man pulled over and asked us if we wanted a lift. Once in the car, quite wet and muddy, Neal offered to take us back to his place - offering the hiker essentials: food, shower, laundry AND a place to stay. It was extremely generous of him and his wife Julie to host us all. Their daughter is currently thru- hiking and is in VA! ( I wish her the best of luck) The trail is full of amazing people like Neal and Julie that make this hike such an incredible experience! Thanks for your generosity and hospitality.
